I wanted something both fun and edgy and ended up picking a up this yellow number from Zara. The process happened rather quickly which is very unusual since it usually takes me weeks to find a dress that I feel good in. In anticipation of not taking a good photograph of the outfit at the event, I snapped a few before I left the house (my friends are horrible photographers...shhh).
Dress: Zara Dress with Cape Sleeve (Yellow, size XS).
Clutch: Botkier Charlotte Clutch (Black)(similar here).
Shoes: LAUREN by Ralph Lauren Amaya Pumps (Black, size 6)(newer version here).
Tights: Hue So Silky Sheer (Black).
Bracelets: Forever21.
Ring: Le Chateau.
Earrings: Le Chateau.
The dress looked best on bare legs, but it being the end of February, I didn't feel like that was a good option. I also don't like the look of an opaque tight with basic pumps as they can sometimes make an outfit appear more casual. A sheer tight can sometimes appear old lady-ish, however, with the right dress, it can also give it a bit of edge which is what I was going for (though maybe not necessarily successful). These are Hue So Silky Sheer (12 denier). I liked the texture of the hose (although maybe next time I'll opt for a 20 denier) and although I thought they were of pretty good quality, they didn't even last the entire night. Very sheer tights don't last very long even if you invest in a $100 pair, but they should certainly last more than one wear.
And a few Instagram snaps taken during the night:

Great news, Zara-loving Canadians! Zara is going online March 6! It probably won't have free shipping and returns like our American-counterparts, but hey, we can work up to it! :D Check out the dress here!

Why don't you invest in a lovely tuxedo-like dress suit or spectacular separates to put together in to a tuxedo-like outfit? I don't know if I am using fashion terminology correctly, but is it called, "le smoking"? You could probably mix and match to your delight by switching out pieces so it looks different for each event, and you can probably even use individual pieces for work, too, to add a bit of luxe to your everyday look. Didn't J. Crew make a lovely tuxedo pant for fall/winter? Anyhow, I bet you'd rock it magnificently and not look like every other girl in the room. I hope to see this on you for your next event.
You look so beautiful, Cher! Love that you went for something bright and bold as opposed to something more conservative (although there is definitely nothing wrong with that!).
You look gorgeous in the dress. The colour really suits you and I love the cape sleeve detail!

Love bright yellow on you! I have similar coloring, and I recently picked up the Tippi sweater in brilliant yellow because I remembered it looked great on you. Enjoy all your posts!
Good on you for choosing a colourful evening dress - very rock chic! Definitely a stand out amongst your friends. Hope you get to wear it again but re-styled ;)
